Goal

ACT For Shelter was initiated in response to the growing vulnerability of the old, sick and dependent who are often left without care. The focus is to provide safe space, daily utility items, medicines and food to those who cannot support themselves.

Under this initiative, Ammucare started Mohanji Bhavan in Odisha to support elderly and visually challenged individuals with nutritious food and regular health check-ups.

Mohanji Home for Seniors was also inaugurated to provide refuge and long-term care to neglected elders. Construction work began with the intention of offering structured residential support.

In addition, support has been extended to old age homes and shelter homes through provision of medicines, hearing aids, footwear, gas stoves, blankets and other essentials.

Blanket distribution and vastra daan have been carried out in multiple cities to protect people living on the streets during winter months.

Vision

ACT For Shelter is rooted in the understanding that safety and dignity are fundamental needs. The intention is not temporary relief alone, but consistent care for those who cannot rely on family or income.

Through structured homes such as Mohanji Bhavan and Mohanji Home for Seniors, the initiative seeks to create environments where the elderly and specially abled are looked after with attention to nutrition, health and daily living support.

By extending care to shelter homes, old age homes and abandoned individuals, Ammucare works to ensure that no one is left without basic human support.
